New Year Rally, Chair's Report

The New Year rally was held at Newark Showground. Before flag commenced there was a moment of reflection for all those who unfortunately lost their lives to the pandemic and also to honour those who have helped to treat and look after the many that have thankfully come through the last 2 years. In life people can forget what you say and what you do, but people will never forget how you made them feel. This is the Notts centre caravan way of life. After welcoming everyone the Chairlady reported that the rally had been well attended with visitors from Beds, Cheshire, Derbys, East Yorks, East Warks, Leics, Lincs, South Yorks, South Staffs, Scottish and West Midland centres. There were also two first time ralliers and 8 members celebrating birthdays. Tuesday 28th December Some people arrived a day early to get settled in with one gentleman travelling 305 miles from Scotland (doing 185 of those before even finding out if the rally was going ahead). Wednesday 29th December We were treated to a 2 course meal of soup and sausage and mash followed by entertainment from a Bruno Mars tribute act then a disco to finish the night. Thursday 30th December Tonight’s theme was ‘Egyptian’ with amazing Egyptian props made by marshal, Paul Tomkinson. We were served a roast chicken dinner with all the trimmings followed by jam roly-poly and custard. Afterward we were entertained by a Queen Tribute act, (the best the Chairlady had seen so far). Friday 31st December - New Year’s Eve (The main event) Everyone was dressed to impress! Centre Flag was followed by a 3 course meal of soup, pork with all the trimmings and a desert of Vienetta and cream. We were then entertained by party band, The Warning Tones followed by a disco into the early hours. We welcomed in the New Year with a glass of prosecco and sandwich platter. Huge thanks to the marshals, Jane and Paul, Gill and Richard, Tracy and Nick and to everyone else who helped with food prep, decorations, cleaning and siting of vans. They all did a fantastic job to make this a successful rally which has received very positive feedback and is a credit to Notts Centre.
