Intercentre Rally 2017
I am a very proud Chairman this week as the Nottinghamshire Centre of the Caravan and Motorhome club hosted the 2017 Intercentre Rally at Clumber Park over the weekend, we were successful in winning
both trophies (The Bill Peck Trophy and The Alf Chapman Cup). The weather was glorious and sunny which ensured all sporting events were well supported by all the four attending centres of ourselves,
Lincolnshire, Leicestershire and Derbyshire. Friends from the Midland Centre also joined in the fun including our Central Region Chairman. The view of over 100 vans pitched around the rally
field was a very impressive site set in the grounds of the park and encouraging for the future of the Intercentre rally and I am sure we are all looking forward to Bitteswell next year. I would
like to thank all the committee and their partners for all their hard work and commitment to the organising and running of the rally, the feedback I have received during and since the rally has been
full of praise for you all and reflects the friendship and team spirit of our centre when on the rally field. Our centre were a force to be reckoned with and entered teams in all adults and childrens
events, including netball, volleyball (mens and womens), football, pentaque, lawn darts and childrens running races. As Richard our Sports Officer said "it is all about taking part and every single
one of you are winners"
Master chef and Bierkeller at Shelt Hill Woodthorpe with 51 outfits has been a very busy fun filled weekend. Visitors from South Yorkshire and Derbyshire joined us in the warm weather for some
cooking and singing. On Friday evening we were treated to a light hearted quiz and a game of lottery bingo. Saturday afternoon saw the Childrens and Adults Master Chef competition
taking place on the rally field with an audience who were more than ready to sample the dishes. The standard of the two courses produced by all the cooks was very high. The adults competition was won
by Andrew Wright. It was good to see Franz Hohmann looking well when he visited the rally to watch the competition. Saturday evening was
spent singing oompah songs whilst swaying and drinking. We also enjoyed a delicious meal of chicken and chips. Robert Burton kept us singing all night and was repeatedly asked for encores. A big
thank you to our marshals Ian and Andrea Pilgrim, Paul and Jane Tomkinson for a fantastic job, also all those who helped them towards the weekend in any way.

A lovely venue at Shardlow Marina overlooking the River Trent this weekend for a swimming and "Back to School" themed rally with 23 outfits attending including Marshals Marie and Dave Charlton,
Sharon and Dean Richardson. We were pleased to welcome four families attending a rally for the first time and hope to see them all again soon. Friday evening was a relaxed evening to enjoy as we
pleased with some visiting the local bar where a guitarist and vocalist duo entertained us throughout the evening. The weather was kind to us on Saturday and our Marshals had planned a busy day
for us with Dave and Dean leading some people on a 4.5 mile guided walk (in reality I was told it was more like 7) which provided scenic views and a pub visit. Many others including the 17 plus
children on the rally went swimming at West Park Long Eaton where floats and music were provided to add to the fun in the pool. The school disco was the theme in the evening at the local village
hall, with supper provided including school dinner pudding of cornflake tart. The evening was ruled by the headmistress including ringing the bell for dinner and assisted by the caretaker leading a
game of musical chairs with a difference and a team quiz. The children took part in a competition flying model planes with some of the adults also wanting a go before ending the evening with a disco.
Flag was held inbetween the showers on Sunday morning, where we thanked the Marshals for all their hard work in making the rally great fun for us all.
