What a lovely weekend - and the
weather certainly helped. As Ian and Andrea Pilgrim are both 40 this year
they decided to have a birthday party on the Saturday night for all their
friends in the Centre who had booked on the rally. What started as a rally
with a limit of 45 (you have to think about all those people you are going
to have to feed) turned into a rally with 58 vans.
The weekend got off to a good start when friends came to the site on Thursday
evening to help set up the three Centre marquees. Shardlow is a lovely
venue and the vans arrived at a stead pace during the day on Friday. Friday
evening we had a quiz and some background music.
Saturday the teenage committee together with Tina organised a kids club
in the afternoon whilst a lot of the adults helped to prepare the food
for the evening.
The meal was lovely and we were all entertained by a live act Kelly Jordan who managed to get the night rocking. Ian and Andrea have said that they will remember the weekend for a long time and thank everyone for making their birthday so special.
Sunday morning and of course the marquees had to come down
- they were all down in double quick time thanks to all the help we received
and everyone was treated to sausage cobs!!
