Newquay Holiday Rally - 2nd to 16th August 2008

Well what can I say about this rally, for me it had everything and I was never stuck for anything to do, even though the weather was not kind to us. In fact it could have been a rally in April rather than August!!!!

Saturday Morning: This started off wet and cold but the weather decided to give us a chance to get set up for the two weeks ahead and unfortunately my bed was calling me by 4.00pm in the afternoon, I know I’m a lightweight!!!

Tina Tours: Some of us booked our trips with the new tour guide of the Notts centre, Mrs Bailey. We got roped in and thrown into the deep end literally with Kayaking and Abseiling. This was one of the best days of the holiday for me watching Mr Hitch find his own special way of rowing (lying down) even the ducks were a little puzzled. After the heavens had again opened up, we were then treated to blue sky so that we could see properly when we then started to throw ourselves off a cliff!

The Wrinks were also up for a little danger and decided to take a Power Boat Trip at Padstow, some of them in the back of the boat got a little wet, however the rest of them did not stay dry for long as the heavens again opened up and soaked them all! …….so much for the saying “back on dry land”

The local Cyder was going down a treat with some of the Ralliers and the calling for “RATTLER” could often be heard from one of the awnings or from the bar!

Thank you to the Marshals who provided us with some lovely food. We were treated to a lovely breakfast and it had to be taken back to the van as it rained, we also enjoyed Cream Tea’s and a Cornish Pasty night and a Grand Buffet which we finally managed to all sit together as the weather was good!

Some of the Teenagers enjoyed there first Nightclub in Newquay (under 18’s of course) the parents had to keep themselves busy in the local pubs until pick up time, however we soon got bored of feeling old and needed our beds.

Tina Tours struck again and a late night trip to the beach was arranged. This proved to be a great night with friends and not being able to see what you were actually cooking on the barbie’s due to too much smoke. Tina then decided that she needed a swim sea in the dark and some of us followed minus a few clothes…….
The weather then decided to throw us hardened ralliers a nice storm to try and finish us off; this proved to be a great day also as the views of the cliffs were amazing, however for some it proved to be the final straw!!!

Thanks again to all the Marshals again for a great Holiday!!!!!
