National
Caravan Club Rally - Sledmere House
27 to 31 May 2011
Report and photographs by Jackie Carlile
There were 28 vans booked on the Nottinghamshire lines this year at
a new venue for the national rally.
Again we were lucky and didn’t have too far to walk for the Community
Areas but as the weekend went on there did seem a lot more travelling
down in their cars!!
The weather stayed dry all day on the Friday but again Saturday arrived
and the heavens seemed to open!
Well done to everyone who took part on behalf of the Centre.
Another action packed weekend and well done to Joel Robinson who was
our flag boy this year.
U12 Football (we didn’t have enough players this
year so we joined with Derbyshire) – all enjoyed themselves –
Kona, Joel, Kyle, Natalie, Callum, Eldon, Archie and Barney
13-16 Boys football – Runners up to Cheshire.
Well done to them all – Josh, Nathan, Adam, Reece,
17-34 Football – Won 1, Lost 2 and drawn 1 –
Only had five players and unfortunately Sam picked up an injury so they
played two matches with only four players but well done to them. –
Scott, Daniel, Liam, Sam and Tom.
Mens Volleyball – Again progressed through to
the heat stage and played really well – Scott, Daniel, Liam, Tom,
Sam, Mark and Joe.
Under 16’s Netball – Runners up to Cheshire
and played their final with only 6 players – they were a credit
to the centre with the sportsmanship – Amy, Georgina, Abbie, Sian,
Millie and Katie.
Ladies Netball – Again a good performance but
after two matches the team decided that they would take no further part
in the competition due to the state of the netball pitches but well
done to : Andrea W, Andrea P, Dawn, Alice,
Strongest man competition – well done to Joe
Robinson and Justin Wallhead who came 2nd and 3rd respectively.
Quiz Team – Won their first round tie and then
lost to North Yorkshire – well played to all of them – John
Guest, Sam Yeomans, Dave Pickering and Shane Caldbeck.
Petangue - Mr Rhodes and Mr Brown were within one point
of the final – commiserations but well done to them.
Lawn Darts – Mick, Liz, Becky and Courtenay –
well done.
Darts – Well done to Mark and Tina Caldicott,
National Champions – they beat Derbyshbire in the Semi final and
Leicestershire in the final.
Although the pitches were some of the worst we have seen at the National
Rally everyone took part and did their best.
