Easter
Rally - The Old Saw Mill, East Sussex I have to start this report by saying that the marshals for this rally deserve a medal – both families live in Kent/East Sussex respectfully and attend around 15 Notts rallies a year and after the journey down to the rally I have to say that they must enjoying rallying with us very much!!! This rally was their way of giving something back to the Centre but what a way – running a Bank Holiday rally when they had never marshalled before!!! The majority of us arrived on the Thursday afternoon and settled in. Friday saw everyone get their bearings and in the evening we were treated to a fantastic buffet from John and Jennie Guest as their daughter Kat was celebrating her 18th birthday on Good Friday. Saturday evening we were entertained by a band “Jack’s Back” and had a lovely supper of chilli and rice followed by a sweet. On Sunday there was an Easter egg hunt and various children’s activities in the marquee and on Sunday evening we were fed again with the largest hot dogs I have ever seen followed by the funniest game of blankety blank I have ever seen – poor compere Grant thought he would never get to the end of the game. I am sure Terry Wogan would have been pulling his hair out if he had had a panel of Gill and Richard Hitch, Ian and Darren Pilgrim and Janet and Chris Smith. I think the majority of the rally field caught the bus into Brighton on what turned out to be a gorgeous day – the bus ride was very eventful as the driver managed to squeeze us all on the bus but most of the men had to stand all the way – poor them!!!! Quite a few members went home on the Tuesday but some stayed for the remainder of the week. Again thanks
to all the marshals for a lovely weekend – they did say that they
know now exactly what goes into running a rally and Lee did say as we
were leaving that it was his first and last time marshalling!!!!
