Bonfire
Rally -
Polish Scout Camp, Torksey
6th to 8th November 2009
Marshals: Nottinghamshire
Committee
Report & Photographs: Jackie Carlile
Well
it was a nice change for the weather when the vans arrived but
unfortunately this changed at teatime – we were just hoping
it wasn’t going to continue for the next day.
Friday evening saw our usual get together with a disco and a quiz.
Saturday dawned bright and not so cold for a change. It was certainly
a change from a few hours earlier.
The bonfire team of Phil Lloyd, Phil Pattinson, Craig Pattinson,
Mick Coope, Mark Purdy, Ashley Winter and Josh Storer went about
their task of building up the bonfire and late morning saw the
arrival of everyone to make their Guy Fawkes.
It was a great turn out and well done to the winners the Johnson
Family, 2nd were our visitors from Derbyshire and 3rd were Katie
and Charlotte.
At 6.30 everyone met outside the marshals van and the torches
were lit and Phil our Chairman led everyone round the vans and
up the lane. All the children gathered around the bonfire and
on the shout of Phil Lloyd all the torches were thrown into the
bonfire to light it.
The firework team worked hard to give us a brilliant show, well
done to Andy Carlile, Ian Pilgrim, Ivor Winter and Mark Purdy
with the help of Ian Storer to set out the fireworks.
After the fireworks it was back to the hall for steak pie, mushy
peas and gravy, a game of sticky fingers and a disco.
Roll
on next year!!
